The 2001 CWPA Mens Collegiate Club Championships were held this past weekend at the University of Florida in Gainsville, FL. The top sixteen teams from thirteen mens collegiate club divisons from across the country vied for this collegiate club champion title. Colorado, seeded 6th and winners of the Southwest Division, placed 8th with a win over Western Illinois and losses to the University of Washington, Dartmouth and eventual champion Cal Poly State University. Texas A&M, seeded 12th and winners of the Texas Division, placed in a tie for 15th with three losses to the US Military Academy, Georgetown and eventual runner-up Villanova University. The championship game was won by Cal Poly over Villanova, 10-8.

Trinity University (of San Antonio, TX), coached by Jim Yates, went undefeated through four games this past weekend (11/2 - 11/4) at the 2001 CWPA Division III National Collegiate Club Championship at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. Preliminary games had Trinity defeating Kalamzoo College 12-3 and Saint Mary's University 22-6. In the semi-final, Trinity beat Grinnell College 7-4. The championship was a match up with the home team and 2000 defending champion, Rochester Institute of Technology. In a closer game, Trinity held on to win 10-8 to claim the title. It was the first season for Trinity to compete in this event at the national collegiate club level.

The New York Athletic Club impressively defeated Newport 13-8 to win this year's Sr. Men's Winter Nationals at North Lake Community College in Irving, TX. Horvjc Cizmic of NYAC took the John H. Curren trophy with MVP honors. NYAC ended up as the only undefeated team of the twelve entered from clubs from all across the USA and Canada. | Arizona Wins 2000 Mens CWPA Club Southwest Division Championships |

The University of Arizona defeated the University of Colorado 10-5 on Sunday at the Texas A&M Student Rec Center to claim the championship of the Mens CWPA Club Southwest Division for 2000. As a result, Arizona will represent the Southwest Division in the Men's CWPA National Club Championship in Federal Way, Washington on November 17-19. Also competing were Texas, Colorado State, Texas A&M, Rice, Trinity, Colorado School of Mines, Texas Christian University and Baylor. For complete results see the Results section of this site.
